Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then found numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report initial examinations suggest the fluid was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not aware of any injuries in association with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to solve the incident" and have asked to the residents for details.
A senior official said the incident left him stunned and required to be addressed quickly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on online, referring to the killing of nine victims by a assailant aiming at residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
